Damazan, At the edge of the canal, among the fileds of sunflowers and corn, surrounded by orchards and vineyards is Damazan. A town of brightly coloured houses, it offers you peace and serenity. To see : in the neighbourhoods of Damazan: the museum of prune, the museum of the bee, the school museum, the match museum, the magic cauldron (sheep and wool work), the old doll museum. To taste : Foie gras de canard confit, wines of Buzet, prunes of Agen, Armagnac. To know : following its restoration, Damazan has been a rehabilitated Fortified town for two years. Most Important : the museum of the mechanicl toys (a true little marvel, less than 15 km from Damazan). Navigation on the Baïse : Situated among the green hills, the peaceful Baïse river allows you to discover a multitude of different landscapes. 190km long and possessing 19 locks, the Baïse River, also known as the 'Silver River', is navigable until Buzet, where the wine cooperative awaits you. A great place to taste some of the famous local wines! Navigation on the Canal Lateral à La Garonne : Following on from the Canal du Midi, the Canal Lateral à La Garonne achieves the perfect junciton between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, while meandering through lands rich in history. Punctuated by 16 locks and several canal bridges, the canal extends 193km. Still used today by several grain barges, this calm canal will encourage you to peacefully cruise along it aboard your houseboat.
