Burgundy / Franche-Comté – The Saône River 
There are so many routes from Pontailler-sur-Saône! You can either go on the Saône River or on the "Petite Saône" with its few locks, but also on the Canal du Bourgogne or on the Doubs River or even on the Canal de la Marne à la Saône. In these regions, well known for gastronomy and local foods and wines, you will cruise on canals or rivers shaded by oaks and willows and lined with reeds, where grey herons, kingfishers and wild ducks leave in peace.

Bresse bourguignonne - Seille
The Seille River, a tributary of the River Saône, is a superb river which runs through the Bresse Bourguignonne with its famous chicken "Poulet de Bresse". You will discover the quiet charm of its wetlands and its half-timbered houses. From La Truchère, you will cruise through a wildlife reserve created in 1980 and its mosaic of different natural environments like marshy ponds, peat bogs and dunes covered with lichens and moss. Then go to Louhans, a vibrant and picturesque city. Its main street is lined with 157 arcades and frontages from the 16th century where there is every Monday its famous farm market. From La Truchère, you can also reach the Saône River, then the Santenay or Macon vineyards.
