semi-ground, semi-water

The colours of nature s’y mèlent harmoniously: pink of Flemish, black of the bulls and white tasks of the horses. Carnon, it is the Camargue, the country of the marshes, a vast natural park. City with strong identity, it seeks to preserve through its inheritance.
It has the characteristic of diversity due to the extended from its territory which is divided into two entities: Mauguio with its preserved site of the Pond of the However and Carnon with its littoral, its dunes and its beaches which add the attraction of the sea to the traditions of the Petite Camargue.
Of its orchards, while passing by its market-gardening grounds and its herds, its zones of activities and its seaside resort, it offers to all those which will come to visit it, a reception and a setting favourable at the holidays, idleness but also with many sports or cultural activities.

Information :
- Transport from the TGV train station in Montpellier (11km) or from the airport at Fréjorgues (7km) to the departure base can be arranged.
- The one-way between the Canal du Rhône à Sète and Canal du Midi may be thwarted due to climatic conditions preventing the passage through the Etang de Thau.

To see : the medieval city of Aigues-Mortes.

To taste : seafood, « catigot aux gambas”.

To know : In Palavas les flots, you will find a panoramic restaurant which turns on him and offers you a point of view out of the common.

Very favourite : Space Georges Brassens in Sète.

On the channel of the Rhone with Sète :

On a hundred kilometres, the channel of the Rhone with Sète crosses Languedoc and the Petite Camargue to reach the doors of Provence.
Links between the channel of the South and the inland waterways of South-east.
The channels of the ponds, completed by the channel of Beaucaire, form today the channel of the Rhone with Sète, which connects the pond of Thau and Sète, in Beaucaire.

On the channel of the south :

Built at the XVIIe century by Pierre-Paul Riquet with his famous round locks, classified «wonder of the world" by the UNESCO in 1996.
True hydrolic museum, on the channel of the South combine variety of the sites and cultural richness. 240 kilometres length of Toulouse to the pond of Thau, it counts 64 locks, 55 aqueducts, 7 bridges - channels and 126 bridges.
